We see so many people taken in by all the hype by out of state LLC mills that charge big bucks to set up your company for "Asset Protection" that costs way too much money, may not even protect anything, and does not really fit what you need. On the other side we have all the DIY folks who use a cheap online solution that might do more harm than good. So we reached out to MAREI Member and Industry Partner Rick Davis to share a quick Mini-Lesson on Asset Protection.

I had the chance to speak with Kim Tucker from the Mid-American Association of Real Estate Investors (MAREI) about some basic legal concepts, such as forming LLCs and using contract forms you find on the internet. We also took a quick detour to discuss the Texas federal court decision that just came out finding that the CDC’s eviction ban was unconstitutional and why that isn’t as good of news as it sounds for Kansas and Missouri landlords.
