MAREI Monthly Meeting: Self Directed IRA vs Self Directed Solo 401k – the Great Debate!

Many real estate investors use self-directed accounts to invest in real estate or notes or for private lending.

These investors have the option of choosing between Self Directing via an IRA or via a solo 401k. Both can be invested in any investment allowed by law such as real estate, LLCs, loans, or private company stock. The one that is best for you will depend on your situation.

What are the differences? When should you choose one over the other?  Do you know? Should you utilize both?

We are going to be answering these questions with two experts from two different companies:  Quest Trust Company and CamaPlan.  They will be joining us to debate the pros and cons of each.  And because there is no “real” universal answer to which is better, we will ask you to listen in and score each to determine which is better for you based on your own personal situation and investment objectives.  Do you qualify?  What type of investments will you make?

The Vendor & Networking Expo

This is an experiment to see how this works.  It is trial by fire, so join us to see if it is a huge success or a dismal tech failure.  For sure it will be fun, we think.

Zoom now allows us to set up and name the break out rooms, and then let you pick and choose which room you want to visit, and then it will let you leave the room and then go visit a different one.  Similar to our in-person events where you could go to the main room, take your seat and catch up on messages on your phone or take a nap.  Or you could visit the various vendors by stopping at their table.  Or you could go visit with people you wanted to talk with.
